Testimonials

Liz Mayall - March 2010

Just a quick note to say thank-you for a wonderful experience last Sunday.
Kerry was a great driver and I enjoyed seeing Auckland through his 'eyes'. Much to my surprise, I never once felt vulnerable sitting on the bike which amazed me especially when we were on the motorway. For me there was only 2 negatives - the 2 hours went far too quickly! And that I had to wear a helmet - would have been great to feel the wind in my hair! Please pass on my thanks again to Kerry for a great 2 hours last Sunday.

John Nisbet - February 2010

The holiday exceeded all my expectations and really was a trip of a lifetime and I've put down a wee list of "feedback", which I hope is helpful. The main reason for the enjoyment was the enthusiasm from the two of you and Tony which permeated through the group...scenery is fine but it is humans that we remember!
Positives were:
Ali's organisation and welcome at the airport.
Baz's enthusiasm, humour, knowledge of his country and general leadership.
Tony's enthusiasm, humour and knowledge of his country and ability to share his heritage in such a heartfelt manner.
The roads,hotels and meals.
The coffee stops which helped the group to gell.
The route which offered something different every day...although I personally did not enjoy the road from Havelock to Picton, but made up for it the next day on the open sweeping road by Hunterville and the Desert Road, which I thought offered the real freedom of motorcycling..
Special Memories.
Seeing Lake Tekapo as we rode over the hill.
Tony's singing at Cardrona and presentation at Waihi.
Your "cocktail party" at Hammer Springs and the complete stay there.
The feeling of freedom and enthusiasm exchanged at every coffee and photo stop.
Riding through the ferntree avenue before the Bushman's centre, after Whataroa.
The Buller Gorge.
The complete company on the trip

.

Ken McDonnell - January 2009

I just wanted to send you a quick message to say how much i enjoyed the day out on the Harley. It is minus 5 degrees here at the moment,a far cry from a beautiful plus 25 degrees at 120kms with a sharp right approaching, absolute magic.New Zealand is a fantastic country for riding and hopefully i will get back to see you again and take a bit longer on the road next time.

Cindy and Ron Stegall - December 2009

As experienced Harley-Davidson touring riders, we feel that Bularangi Harley Tours of New Zealand, by far, has been the best company we have ever dealt with in our 20 years of touring by bike. From the first e-mail inquiry (that was answered within minutes) to the final turning in of the bikes, every detail was handled professionally and with personal interest for our comfort and safety.
We asked for a 3 week route for touring NZ and hotel accommodations. They

inquired as to our personal interests and preferences for what we liked to do and see, how long we wanted to ride each day, whether we wanted lay-over days, hotel requirements, etc. Within a day, they had sent an entirely customized itinerary showing the route, items of interest all along the way, hotel accommodations with internet links to each hotel for our ease of reviewing them,

and much more.
The ride itself was fantastic, and knowing that every detail was taken care of for us, from hotel rooms, a pre-programmed GPS showing us the route, reservations already made for some of the activities that they had recommended along the way, and a 24 hour number to call for any reason, we truly felt that we could not have chosen a better company!
New Zealand was amazing! With each new day, we were always stunned by its changing beauty, wonderful riding roads, and incredibly friendly people. So much

to do and see, we should have stayed longer.
If you are interested in motorcycle riding of any kind (self-guided, guided, day rides, etc.,) this is the company to call. When one finishes a 3 week trip, and can truly say that they have no suggestions to the company for improvement, you have found the ultimate company, don’t look any further! We found this company on the internet, had no knowledge of them at all, but we feel we found the “Best of the Best”!

Bill and Connie Maier - January 2010

From being collected at our cruise ship by a smiling Ali who seemed like a long lost relative to gearing up in Waihi, and all the floorboard scraping twisties along the beautiful scenic Coromandel Loop, just a wonderful experience, as my wife described it was a rollercoaster ride through paradise. We stopped for a wonderful lunch of New Zealand greenlip mussels at Pepper Tree in Coromandel. Kev, our guide was easygoing, professional, lots of laughs, and a great photographer, patiently taking lots of pics of us at picturesque stops along the way. We had a grand time with Kev and his wife Annette and the wonderful Ali. We didnt want it to end so Ali stopped on the way back to our cruise ship at Brownies for a toast with local beer and wine, the perfect end to an absolutely amazing day. Thanks so much for a fantastic experience!

Phil and Sian Artha - Wales  January 2010

Absolutely Bloddy Brilliant!! What a tour, 14 days of North and South Island Bularangi, great bike, roads (apart from the gravel) fab views and superb people and what an excellent guide in Baz, good on ya mate! Can't wait to go back. See you next year Baz for the Rugby World Cup when Wales will beat the All Blacks in the Final????????/ Sorry Ali and Baz but it only goes up to 10 out of 10 .................it should be MORE!!!

Sammy and Sinead - Ireland and Germany - January 2010

It was absolutely the most amazing experience for both of us. We rode an ultra classic for two days and had the best time ever, the bike was the perfect choice for us. Completely smoothe and very comfortable for my girlfriend and me.
And of course thanks to Ali who made this all going so well for us.

Peter Turner - December 2009
A big thank you would be appreciated to go out to the guys as they were fantastic and we got exactly what we were after. Hopefully we can do it again.

Big Rog Thames Valley Vultures (VSOC) UK- Novemer 2009
Baz & Ali run a brilliant tour of NZ, having just completed their 22 day legacy tour I reckon I saw most of the significant places in the country. I give them my highest recommendation, you will have a ball. However, dont sign up for it unless you get out the cement, as Baz will tell you, and harden up up a bit, cos you will need it....its tuff but worthwhile for the experience if you think you can handle it.

Mary Long - November 2009

I was gong to send you an e-mail anyway to say how fantastic, unbelievable and amazing my ride was but it was all down to Dennis he was just brilliant and we had a blast. He is a huge asset to your company, he really made me feel so special and explained so much and was so informative. It was truly the highlight of my holiday and I have not stopped talking about it since. One of my fellow passengers asked what was the highlight of my holiday so far and she was taken aback when I said the ride as of course the South Island is so pretty and stunning but hey that was the truth thanks to Dennis.

Neil and Sue Boyd - November 2009

The guys and the bikes turned up with the exact reaction we had hoped for, and in many ways better.... "leather clad men on Harleys"...Peter, with his face cover really sent the girls into full flight, as only a group of 50 year old hardcase women would. They all had been trying to guess what Sue had planned for them, the bikes were the high light of a perfect 24 hrs they had with Sue, some were suffering from a few wines, and a few hours of dancing and entertainment the night before. The girls really appreciated the interaction with the guys, some comments that we heard from the women who had ridden on bikes before..."We wouldn't have trusted our husbands on the bikes, but had total confidence in their chaperone's". Sue and I really appreciated the quality of the gear that was available to outfit the pillion riders in, as well as the professionalism of the guys to our day, both on the road and at the locations we stopped at. "As riders ourselves, we are aware and sensitive to the enjoyment and risks that go with riding motorcycles, your team gave us total confidence from start to finish." We would recommend your company to any other parties contemplating a fabulous couple of hours entertainment. Sue has had texts from the girls this morning, all saying that the smile is still on their faces from the ride on Sunday. We cant say enough thank you's.....but please pass on our warmest thanks to the guys.

Maureen Lee - September 2009

Well, we ordered the 2 hour tour round Auckland - a present for my husband for our 40th wedding anniversary. What a fabulous experience and such a great bunch of people. We would recommend this to anyone who remembers what it was like to ride a motorbike in the middle of last century.

Renaud Bonnett, France - Sept 2009

We are two French moto racers and we have spent a very nice day on the road with the harleys.  We have rent 2 harleys during one day (good price).  We like this experience and they are very friendly, I like it.  Thank you so much it was a pleasure to drive a Harley in Coromandel.

Shelby Hickey Vodafone New Zealand, May 2009

Hi Guys, just wanted to say THANK YOU for making my Heroes day one to remember...  I'm definitively not going to forgot my 1st ride on a HARLEY!!! It was the best, and you guys are really great. Made everything easy and your drivers are so kind, and I LOVE Harley's now... I want to buy one!!!   I'm definitely going to recommend you guys.  Thank you so much.

Heaven on a Harley
The Harley-Davidson says speed but the scenery says just relax, writes Penny Harding
(Melbourne HERALD SUN, Sep 2004)

SO, HOW fast does this bike go?
"About 200km/h, I guess, but I have got over my need for speed," says Andrew De'Ath, the guy in black leather (naturally) who runs Harley Tours, New Zealand.
The gleaming machine, standing outside the cafe on the main street of Thames is drawing looks from the male inhabitants of this small Coromandel town, and just a few from the females.
Andrew, a former trucker, motocross rider and road racer, turned tour operator after returning to New Zealand from three years in Scotland managing a trucking operation.
Now he loads up tourists on his Harley-Davidsons and transports them anywhere and everywhere around New Zealand.
Andrew's bike is a 1450cc 2002 Heritage Softail Classic, worth $38,000. He has two and leases others when a crowd turns up.
On tour, he tries to avoid the metal roads that play havoc with the paintwork and damage the belt that runs, instead of a chain, from the Harley's engine to the back wheels to minimise engine vibration.
The balancing act has never been easier for a pillion passenger. The seat cushion is comfortable, the foot rests are wide enough to put your feet on, there is a back rest and there is none of the vibration that threatens to shake a passenger off the back.
It's so comfortable that the biggest risk I face is falling asleep, cosy in leathers and thermals.
"My partner has dropped off (to sleep, that is)" Andrew says. "I have felt her slump against my back."
The route is a two-hour ride up the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula. The narrow road twists and turns, sometimes gripping the shoreline of the Firth of Thames and the Hauraki Gulf, sometimes winding up and over steep hillsides covered with the lush, damp native bush that characterises this high-rainfall region.
But what we don't need now is rain, even though Andrew provides a helmet as part of the deal and, for a fee, the leather jacket $NZ35 and gloves $NZI5. If the weather is bad, Andrew will cancel a tour rather than risk freezing clients' good humour.
Our speed is never much more than 70km/h. Only once — on the straights approaching Coromandel Town and running late for the Driving Creek train — do I get any idea of what speed this bike is capable of — and we are still within the speed limit. But these are hardly the big American freeways these bikes were made for.
You can do a tour in various ways: pillion, riding your own Harley with Andrew or one of his guides, or taking a bike away on your own — but be ready to pay a $NZ2500 bond for its safe return.

Corinna Homer at Madant, Auckland - May 2009

Thank you so much for everything – you guys were certainly incredible and the team LOVED it.  Particularly thanks to you for being so obliging across the whole process and finding such great solutions for us – it worked a treat, and the bikes were fabulous – we will definitely be using you again – so thanks so much.

Pat from Rotorua - April 2009

What a great ride. Baz took me for a ride around the lake at Rotorua and it fulfilled a dream I'd had for years. What a fantastic birthday present from my kids! Can't wait to do it again and go for longer.

Anna Gatti - March 2009

Spent 8 days up and down the country as a pillow passanger, with Tony up north and Graham down south. What an amazing experience!!!! Saw the true New Zealand, everything was incredibly well planned and when the weather got the worst of us, got saved by Tony's fantastic wife or had lunch with Graham mother in law :-) Feeling like a real "biker" for a while is quite an adventure, and the incredible sights and sounds, the culture -- what a privilege having locals show you the "true" spots....Will be back.

Ryszard, Stanisław, Tomasz, Stanisław - Poland March 2009

It was 7 days trip for 4 people with 3 bikes around South Island. It was an undertaking very much professionally organised. Baz is a very frank, flexible person and well organized. He led us safely with left side of the road. To sum up we state that it was very much extreme and unforgettable experience. We recommend this kind of trip everyone.

Brenda, UK, February 2009

Pillion tour for 4hrs and desbite being a complete biking virgin (almost), Graham was fantastic and despite strong crosswinds almost constantly i felt very comfortable on the bike. Am inspired to perhaps get my licence now. Of all the activities i did in Queenstown i rank this the best and would recommend to anyone. Excellent!

Maureen Cross, Jersey, February 2009

I can't believe how much we enjoyed this tour and would thoroughly recommend this as the best way to see Auckland. From being quite apprehensive, I can honestly say that I have never felt safer and so was able to relax and enjoy the sights and smells of the beautiful countryside. Definitely the highlight of our visit to New Zealand.

David Lewis, Australia, January 2009

An opportunity to safely introduce my partner to the joys of riding. Now I can buy my bike! A wonderful afternoon spent with Dennis and Graham from Queenstown spent riding pillion from Queenstown to Glenorchy. Not much to do in Glenorchy, but that wasn't the point, Sue needed to experience the joy of riding a Harley and from the first moment we stopped after riding for about 15 minutes she was hooked. I have often told her of my experiences and now she had safely experienced it too. She's hooked and I couldn't be happier. Dennis, looked after her and made her feel very comfortable and by the end of the afternoon was riding pillion like she was born to the saddle. Thank you guys!!

Andy Cant, UK, December 2008

Fantastic. My Brother-in-Law (a Harley owner from the UK), myself (Japanese sports bike rider, living in Auckland) and a mate hired bikes on Boxing Day and went for a run round the Coromandel loop, which was recommended by Baz. The bikes were top notch, the hire process was easy, Baz and Ali were keen to communicate and work to ensure that our day went well and the weather was awesome! I would highly recommend Baz and Ali at Harley Tours New Zealand to anyone who wanted to hire Harleys in New Zealand. Thanks guys, a great day!

Karen Gibson, September 2008

Ali and Baz of Harley Tours were very helpful in the planning of our Auckland City Tour. We travelled as part of a group of 15 people (approx. 30 people in total including our friendly riders!), so there was alot of planning and organisation involved to make it all happen. It was great to finally meet Ali, Baz and the rest of the gang on the day. It was very exciting and we all had a fantastic time! All very positive feedback from this end. Everyone raved about how good the tour was, and they're all still talking about it. Even those that had a few nerves in the beginning soon got over it and really enjoyed the experience. I felt safe in the hands of the riders, who all seemed very experienced. They were a great bunch of guys, who obviously love their bikes and love what they do. A few people commented that it was a lot more comfortable on the bikes that had a back rest. It was also nice to have a rest break and stretch the legs. Magnificent scenery along the way - and a very unique way to see the sights of Auckland! It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Ian Kemp - November 2008

I thought I would send a thank you note for the QUEENSTOWN Harley hire. The bikes were fantastic. Having only ever owned Japanese Sports Bikes and never been on a Harley or a Cruiser before we weren’t sure what it would be like or if we would enjoy it. As soon I rode down the street I instantly felt comfortable and confident. The bike fitted me perfectly. After a familiarisation ride around Lake Hayes and Arrowtown to Queenstown we picked up our wives and headed off to Glenorchy for brunch. Unlike my sports bike the Harley felt natural and really easy to ride with a pillion passenger. Even going ‘two up’ over the Crown Range to Wanaka for lunch was a breeze and a pleasure. After a leisurely ride to Cromwell and through the Kawarau Gorge we dropped the Ladies off at a Winery and went for a quick solo ride to Kingston and back before returning the bikes. I’ve done a lot of riding over the last 30 years. A day spent touring Central Otago on a 2007 Harley Softail would have to top the list. We all enjoyed it so much we have decided to make it an annual event. Next time we might take them for two days. When we picked up and dropped off the bikes Jo was wonderful. She is obviously an enthusiastic rider herself and her enthusiasm is infectious. We couldn’t have felt more welcome. Please pass on our thanks to Jo and we look forward to seeing her next time. We will be recommending you to everyone we possibly can.

Sue Davies, October 2008 Wellington

We REALLY REALLY REALLY enjoyed our time with Dennis and Graham - and would recommend the tour anyone wanting to see the REAL Queenstown and beyond - well worth the money we have done a lot of sight seeing - Alaska, States, Fiji, and the Island AND THIS WAS JUST THE BEST - great guys, and we learnt more in that day from them than we would have had we gone with a bus group etc we were free to just sit and learn and enjoy the scenery whilst with the riders being so experienced we were safe and warm as toast we cannot express our thanks to the team word can not say how we feel - 10 years younger and relaxed.

Gordon Lawrence November 2008

Shame I cant give a rating of more than 10! This company certainly deserves a high rating. I used them in Auckland a couple of weeks ago. A mate and myself wanted to visit Rotorua, but we were very short on time, ie one day. We heard Baz and Peters bikes before we saw them. On walking out of the hotel in Auckland there was people admiring the 2 harleys. Baz was one of the most professional guys I know, and safety was paramount. After fitting us with jackets/helmets/gloves etc, they made sure we were ok as pillions and off we went. This was without doubt the highlight of our trip. The scenery was breathtaking and the day flew buy My biggest memory is riding out of Rotorua with the Rolling Stones, paint it black blasting out, what a way to go. Baz made sure and reassured us all day if we were ok, and they would have us back to the airport in time. I explained to Baz that at this time i didnt care if i missed the flight as if i did there was always another flight, and i would book another tour with them the next day. Baz fortunately (or Un fortunately ) got us to the airport in time, no problems at all I am now back in UK and am planning next years trip. I cannot thank Baz enough for what he did for us, he was so utterly professional and a great guy to be with.

Aimee Marsh, Queenstown October 2008

It was one of the top 3 things I have done in my life. I just need to find a man with a Harley and I will die a happy woman. The guys were fantastic. Thanks
